Where did my placenta go?

arranging the numbers

fridge magnets are awesome!

but they scratch the fridge all over ;)

ok, ready for something gory?

what is this??

my placenta!!

i told hubs to keep in the fridge the other time, and in the end didnt know how to deal with it hence told him to just bin it.

this time i was a little smarter.

again, brought home the placenta and kept in the fridge.

dont think they are willing to steam and bake and grind and encapsulate the placenta for  me to consume.

so i ordered hubs to bury it.

they said baby will be calmer, knowing that the placenta is near him.

or you can also do a lotus birth, means you keep the placenta and the umbilical cord attached to the baby's belly and dehydrate the placenta with herbs.

generally u can only do this if you have a home birth.

no way the public hospital will grant your wish in this case.

so this house is a very special house for us.

anyway, rest in peace placenta.

Bathing during confinement

people think i cant bathe my own son.
hello?
does my face says something?
just because i have a baby face does not mean i cannot do all these.

of course, my mom have to be one of them.
once you are their babies, you are forever their babies. (im not opposing)
either she loves bathing my children, or she did not trust me with them.
fine with me.
i will let her do it then.

i did not get to bathe my son at all throughout the confinement period.

they like to ask if i know how to handle him, if i can bathe him when im back here alone.
-____-''
this is the pro mom doing it :)

bathed in clean tepid water

both his grannies
he can sleep like this...-____-'''

wash face, clean tongue
check out the colour of the water.
this was winter melon water.

they claimed this is good for jaundice baby.

whatever!

no hokey pokey this time.
nothing internal.
whereas kj had lots of potions: goat's milk, coconut water, water chestnut, etc
and kj bathed in guinness stout, herbs etc

finally, he can sleep in peace =)

this is lemon grass and ginger water.

i told mom not to buy bathing herbs from the chinese medicinal hall for me this time, which she did previously.

i googled and found this recipe.
boil lots of lemongrass and ginger.
easy peasy.

mom had an uncle dug out one entire bush of lemongrass planted by dad.

so the lemongrass used were entirely organic. ha-ha

smells invigorating.

i bathed a couple of times during my confinement month.
more so than my first confinement.

going in and out of the hospital in the first 2 weeks make me sweat and i felt yucky meeting people with a smelly head.
so hubs washed my hair twice.
the second time was before we took the flight home to mom's house.

back in mom's house, i washed my hair again on the 3rd week.
no idea why this time i was 'hotter' and dirtier.

kj's time i could live without bathing.

the water must be warm when bathing.
must not shower with cold water.

i know many modern moms do not follow this rule these days, but I'm those type who loves these old folks tales :p

i hope they wont extinct.

NICU food

my babies are all NICU babies.

NICU = neonatal ICU

when they were there, this was their food.

by Wyeth

there have 2 types.
one for preterm babies.
another one for term babies.

this bottle in the photo above is for premature babies.
BAYI KURANG BERAT BADAN KETIKA LAHIR

SEDIA DIMINUM

the nurses will warm the milk before consuming

i was worried about what my baby was drinking when they were in ward.

when my first child was in NICU, i interrogated them.

i was alarmed! how could they feed formula?
anxiously i questioned hubs.
how come they did not ask me for ebm (expressed breast milk).

i went to NICU myself and all they told me was:
susu yang sudah dibancuh. bukan susu tepung.
tidak dapat beli susu ini di luar.
ok, so it is not formula milk.
i was in peace.

calmly i went home and diligently pumped milk and hubs busy transporting.
petrol bills are high i tell you.

this time when i was in NNJ (neonatal jaundice) unit, i watched the nurses fed the babies.
last time i was too busy watching my own child.
:D

this boy likes the milk, chilled.

it tastes pretty good! :D
not like our cow's milk.
its a little malty.

the nurse asked if i want to buy the milk.
she approached the wrong person man!

even though it is THIS much!
no matter.
just pump!

i used Medela Harmony manual single pump.

i miss being healthy

i miss him!!!

him= thermomix

celery, guava, green apple, kailan, ? i dont remember what else.
hubs blended so he threw everything in.

they drank this and i could just watch! :(

i drank the frappuccino. (had to)
and they drank green smoothies.
the irony!
i am the health conscious lad and they are not!

well this happened during my post-natal week 1-2.

due to HORRIFYING side effects of the spinal anesthesia, i was forced to drink lots of caffeinated drinks.
if the hubs could, he would want to hose it down my throat.

i experienced very bad spinal headache hence suggested treatment was lots of caffeinated drinks such as coffee or coke, and hydration is vital.

coffee did nothing to me!

took ibuprofen.
not helping.
paracetamol?
u must be kidding me.
celecoxib.
yes, much better.

the crazy monster left after the 5th or 6th day.

i am phobic.

i forgot about the purple cabbage before i went to the hospital so i had to force hubs to add it into the smoothies.
with the excuse of  " it's for your own benefit ".

the purple cabbage is imported (from Australia) and boy were they expensive!

Nourish yourself with red cabbage.
