updates of little one

aww when he first started to crawl …when was it? he is only 14 months old and i don't remember already! sigh. lousy mum!
anyway, in Jan 2014, he started to crawl a think, and as he gets more active, crawling and commando-ing like crazy, these was what he gets. the skin on the knees peeled.
awww, the mother is heart broken hence the adhesive. heh heh

fast forward to now, 14 months old.
we need to accompany his brother to swimming lesson every saturday.

of course, he can't sit STILL for more than 30 seconds.

he loves water.

2-3 weeks back, he could stand up and began taking a few steps.
still not more than 5 steps now but he loves to stand up! in the bathtub. on the bed! silly boy.
:)
the joy on his face when he is walking!

he still drinks mummy's milk and he loves to scream for me at 5,30am in the morning, knowing that I'm in the kitchen busy preparing food for everyone. (actually not everyone, mainly for the 2 kids). dad has no breakfast now, poor dad.

I'm still cooking porridge every morning for this little one.

introduced celery, aubergine, leek for him last month.

he is vegetarian on most days of the week.

initially i gave him beef, fish and pork but now that i think of it, he would have plenty of meat when he grows up, so I'm giving him more veg/beans/legumes whilst he is still under my control :p

i add all sorts of grains - millet, quinoa, red lentil, green pea, buckwheat, oat groat, nutritional yeast into his porridge.

he loves to tear things into pieces!
so he found a big piece of kitchen towel in my bag hence he decided to practice his motor skill by shredding it into pieces.
well done sweetie!

kj could never do that.
when kj was a toddler, i gave him a small piece of newspaper and place it on a beautiful tray and present it to him. showed him how to tear the paper.
he just watched me.
no, he is not copying me!
sigh, i was disappointed because he doesnt like the activity.

but hey!
this kid, did it without me demonstrating!
is he smart or what?
:p
(could you sense any sarcasm?)

we can never neglect this boy.
he adores his little brother tremendously.
how do i know?
how do we know?
because he never fails to tell us that his brother is very cute! :)

ok, so why can we not neglect him?
because he talks so much and he is an attention seeker!
sometimes i feel like giving him a whip at the butt!
he stalls time.
he negotiates and gives excuses! O.O at this age??????!!!!

cute baby monkey

12 months old!!!

i really can't stand this boy! he is toooooo cute! i don't remember going this crazy over my first born! haha

milestoone:
  • he can wave good bye.
  • he can find hidden things easily (if you show him a toy, and you hide it under a pillow, he will climb towards the pillow and lift it up! )
  • pulls up to stand walks holding on to furniture / cruising
  • explores things in different ways , like shaking, banging and throwing

he likes to bang things! (kj doesnt do this )
he likes play pee ka boo! (kj doesnt do this)

why am i comparing? take it positively. i did not record kJ's milestone as i should have, so i am getting a second chance to do so, without an accurate timeline, sorry darling.

funniest was when baby matty tries to 'shakes his head' yesterday!

he can turn from left to right when he was in his car seat or on the bed. but he can't do it when he is sitting. funny! he body will follow suit if he does it! and he smiles after doing it! ugh!

i am so so emotional. how i truly wish he could stay this way.

he also tries to blow air from his lips, making the puuuzzz sound. please help me!!! I'm going crazy over him!!!

food wise, he eats beef, pork, fish, veg, fruits. almost everything that we eat, i'll throw into the thermy and cook and blitz.

check out what i've prepared for him here in FB Group. search under baby food.

11 months old

he is 11 months old now!

and today he says mamamaMAMAMAMA… instead of his usual papapapapapapa…

he eats purees prepared from home. I'm adding a little vco to his food when i can remember.

if he doesnt like the food, he will not swallow. shesssh.

eats twice a day.

he is a very attached baby! matty sticks to me like glue!

but makes me happy because he wants me to carry whenever he sees me! unlike kayjay :D
nevertheless sometimes i feel like i can't breathe because i need to carry him all the time :(

thank god i have a husband who can cook and clean.

he likes to eat! when he sees us eating, he goes mamama… I'm not sure if it is MAM MAM…or mamama..

his agility is…O.O makes me speechless. jaw dropping!

his fingers are really swift!
his index finger is like a caterpillar. he likes to dig your mouth, your nostril.

he is an adventurous explorer, unlike his big brother.
he loves to eat paper, zooms across the hall towards paper/books. and rip them off! yums!
he has eaten a couple of things: cardboard (came out from his poo), fridge magnet, toothpaste, body cream, to name a few.

his brother gets upset whenever he bites off books.

still skinny and small, weighing 7kg.
tsk tsk
:)

can stand with support.

he has shortie legs. long torso. ouch, heartache.
his big brother has a better proportion. haha

i need to remind myself to rub olive oil on his eyebrow because they are very faint.

milestone 9 months old

24 nov 2014

we have been extremely busy since dec last year. baby matty is not very much a baby anymore and i feel…..sad thinking about it :)

i need to document his milestone because i feel very guilty when people ask me what can kj do at which month and i have no recollection at all!

well we started matty on solids in jan-feb this year. at 6-7 months old he still can't swallow, despite having intense interest in food.

whenever he sees us eating, he would want to..eat? or grab it. he still can't eat even if we try to give it to him.

I'm trying to do blw-baby led weaning but not quite successful :S anyway, I've changed strategy. won't be feeding puree all the way. i will want to let him have a taste of everything so that hopefully he won't be a fussy eater like kj. BUT, I'm still concern over the salt or whatnot if i were to feed him adult food. i know, I'm contradicting myself. still can't find a balance out of this :p

now at 9 months old! NINE! finally he is eating, swallowing this month! hooray!

he has 2 tooth at the bottom at 7 months old. and just 3 days ago, aunty found out that he is teething again, with 2 to 3 tooth on top.

what have i fed him so far. brown rice, millet, banana, pumpkin, sweet potato, sweet potato leaves, pear, apple.

easiest and best way for first stage puree is to run through a siever. the end product will be 100 percent silky smooth. don't need any special gadget.

since he is eating, starting last week his poo has solidified. prior to this, he has runny poo due to breast milk.

i am still breastfeeding him. no aunty visit yet.

he drinks every 2 hours in aunty's house, around 6-6.5 oz each feed.

my pumping schedule at work: 10am, 1pm, 4pm (or sometimes 5pm).

sometimes if i do not have much ebm in fridge (frozen ebm has expired), i will try to pump every 2 hours at work, which is difficult to achieve. and i will also set the alarm and get up twice at night - around 2am and 5am. most of the time, i can only wake up once =)

if i travel, i need to work harder when i come back. otherwise, over the weekend i will usually get to stock up for the coming week hence i won't be so worked up.

i can send milk once in the morning, enough milk to cover till 5pm. if i travel and when i come back, i will need to send milk twice. :S

each pumping session now yields 4-6 oz.

matty can now hold on to something and push himself up, albeit standing wobbly. he can crawl with ease no doubt.

he recognizes his name too! :)

however, he is one clingy baby. making me a handicap. because i need to carry him all the time. aLLLL the time :)

Us in November

 in the car today,

i want to buy smoke for laopa (babysitter's husband).

oh? u mean u want to buy cigarette for him to smoke?
cigarette?
u can't buy cigarette. you are underage.
only adults can buy.
the police will catch you.

i will ask ah kong to shoot the police!

well, he knows and remembers that ah kong has a long gun for hunting.
amazing memory!

this is what happened this morning.

I'm always hurrying here and there in the morning.
i now get up at 5.30am and yet i need to scurry all over the house.
perhaps i should get up earlier?
oh man.

when we move,
i think i need to get up at 4 am :(
im dreading the moment!
and it is not a momentary thing. it is for…life almost?

this is to share with my friends about my lifestyle.
having no maid.
tending to 2 kids.
:S

btw, baby matty can now flip!
last week he tries very hard to flip but yesterday he could flip easily.
sometimes one hand will still get stuck below his tummy though.
and he will cry for help.

he loves to roll to his left and flip!

he loves it when i place a mirror in front of him when he is on his tummy :)
he is now 5 months old.
time flies.
one more month and he can begin to eat.
i am also dreading that moment so i will try to stall and not begin solid feeding that soon.
i hope babysis cooperates.

this week aunty wants to increase his ebm intake to 5oz.
O.O
stresses me out.
i can still provide, but somehow, the nervousness will be there.

the top tier is for ebm only.

they are full.
really full.
but some of the ebm has expired.
i have donated 30 packs of ebm to a mommy.

the older milk will be turned into soap.

by having all these stocks,
i still feel the jittery.

i prefer to supply refrigerated bm because the metallic taste is horrible.
i suppose the longer u keep, the stronger the metallic taste.

bless me

sleep training

early september we managed to off the lights at night during kj's bedtime.
prior to this, lights must be on!
he will protest and yowl whenever we try to switch off the light.
he says "got moh gui" (there is monster)

of course, it was not easy during the first few days when we began the Darkness Operation.
we must be tough and not give in.

what we did:
1. give warning that lights will be off in 10 mins time.
2. give him a choice of whether he wants to switch off or daddy

i calmed him down by telling him that di-di will be in the room with him.
he must protect di-di.
if he is still afraid, then i'd say di-di will protect him.ekekke
he buys that. :p

we will also be in the room with him, while waiting for him to snooze.

as mentioned here, he was sleeping at 9.30pm - 10pm but now we have successfully pushed his sleeping time to 9pm-9.30pm!
*a pat on our back*

he'll wake up we will wake him up at 6.30am.
sometimes will get cranky if he is lack of sleep / sleep late.

nap for about 2 hours 12-2pm

Mirror mirror on the wall

oct 10

The wall mirror provides the child
  • the opportunity to see and study their own reflection, study their own movements and connect their movements with that of the reflection, this also helps the child (over time) to control their own movements
  • another way of seeing the room
  • encouragement to lift their head especially during tummy time, "controlling the head is the beginning of his mastering of the environment."

pardon my ill-effort of the black and white images. they kept on falling.
i used a double sided tape and blue tack to hold them to the wall.

i do not have space to convert our room to montessori rooms like this one here.

will try to create one area with a larger mirror for the children in our new home.

LOVE this pouting face!
tugs my heart when he does this
but he is a cheeky guy.
he pouts for few miliseconds,
then he smiles.

he is a teaser, definitely!

daddy admiring himself..
loves to play with saliva, blows bubbles and will suck it back.
so atleast he does not salivate much.

still trying very hard to roll.

today he tried so hard that he yelps. asking for help? or merely annoyed at himself? i dont know :)

i tried to flip him over, but he fall back down, or momentum made him roll over to the other side.

funny guy :)

there is nothing about him that i do not adore.

i am falling deeply crazily in love with this guy.
help.

his dad teased,

your soul mate is here,

when i came to carry him away.

Trying to roll over

oct 9
turning?

babies can begin to roll over as early as 3 months old.
i refer to this Milestone Chart.

he can somehow commando crawl and change position when he sleeps on his tummy.
the next morning he'll deviate as far as 90 degrees sometimes.

trying very hard to roll
take a rest
with all his might!
lick fingers
try again

the position....

hello darling!
good try :)
