why mothers don't eat junk food ;)

its not that i don't junk….guess who is the biggest junk food eater in our house!

i want set a good example to the kids hence i can't eat craps in front of them. when else can i eat then? i don't have time to eat at work place, unless I'm really hungry then i'd grab something in between. besides working hours, the children and i are inseparable.

well, hubs is different. after all of us has gone to bed, he relaxes in front of the TV and what else can he do?
what irritates me is that someone (whoever that does that in front of my children) has to end their meal with rubbish (snacks).

so now u know how to put me off ;)

super baby porridge !

 organic green lentil
 2 handful
 turbo few secs

add vegetables : broccoli , carrot, quinoa, half cup rice

quinoa must be soaked and rinse

add broth/soup/water

broth will be the most nutritious of all

check out my bone broth

 how much broth/water?
adjust accordingly
for half cup rice, i usually filled the broth till the blade is immersed.

most important, water content for porridge is sufficient

water/broth/soup can exceed, at most the porridge has more gravy or becomes soupy

if water content is lacking, the porridge becomes gooey and there might be burnt marks at the bottom.

cook 20 mins, 100 degrees, speed 1

high protein complete meal for the baby!

try it!

dec 2014

end of december 2014, the two of us had lots of challenges to come back to KK.
flights not booked.
had to quickly fly to KL for a night before catching another flight back to KK the next morning.
when things go out of plan, it gets rather chaotic.

we were hanging out in the Golden Lounge in KLIA while waiting for boarding.

Matty can say "smile" to the camera phone ;)

loves to take selfie…

-_____-'''

i need to ensure he has had enough food here before we board the plane.
croissant for him and some rice
he wants to hold his own spoon and is quite determine about it :(
it means HE MUST have his OWN SPOON!

this is what happens when we practise BLW (baby-led weaning)
hubs thinks his determination is due to the blw. he blamed me for it.
oh well..

fed him some of my muesli
we also shared some yogurt ;)
he hates egg yolk.

look at the mess he has artfully created?

i feel embarrassed...i did try to clean up as much as i can.

last selfie before dozing off for his morning!

it is vital to time their nap time with plane ride so that we can have some rest up in the sky!

its monsoon season now so we couldn't land according to schedule and had to detour to Labuan for an hour before flying back to destination.
sigh.

anyway, all was well! :)

Matty can now say "tay jay"!
he calls him tayjay more than "ge ge"

he can say "ptei ji" (aeroplane)

he will bring Peppa Pig's book to me and say Peppa.
phew, finally he has stopped snacking on books.

he loves to go out! of the house.
he is really sneaky and cheeky!
he teases people! makes funny face! funny actions!
he can sign shoe! and asks for shoe when he wants to go out.

likes to snatch the phone and talks on the phone whenever I'm on the phone! -____-'''

nap twice a day.
sleeps around 9 at night and get up around 6-7 in the morning.

turn his head away if he doesnt like his food.
or he will spit out if I've conned him to take that mouthful of food!
he also began to keep food in his mouth.
aunty says he'll swallow but the process of feeding him is tiresome.
well, aunty did not say that but i assumed so! :p

milk bottle intake is 2-3 times a day in aunty's house
each milk session is about 6-7 oz
doesnt fancy frozen milk. how do we know?
he'll swirl his tongue around the teat and do everything BUT drinking the milk

he can say Poo poo! means he has poo-ed!
or pee pee! if he has pee-ed!
clever boy! :D

this boy is really agile and observant.
he observes really well and imitates us! especially his brother!
his action is also really quick and swift!
hence i have to concentrate whenever I'm babysitting him.

he won't call me Mama …
whenever he needs me, he will come to me and search for my hand, hold it and pull me somewhere if he needs me to do anything or go somewhere.

sausage rolls

ive done this so many times this month!

this will be my favourite bread recipe for now!

what is the criteria for a good bread recipe?

no 1.
texture of baked products is excellent! soft and tasty!
no2.
easy to shape!

some recipe gives sticky dough, which is difficult to shape.

just blob them into the bread tin and bake.

no 3.
dont need to make starter dough.
no nonsense recipe
just make right away , whenever we feel like it

why do i say so?
tang zong bread means we need to plan in advance.

sometimes our schedule is spontaneous so it is difficult to plan in advance
:(
i like to plan in advance but with 2 kids in tow and a spontaneous husband,
it is better for me to let go. -____-''''
musnt get so up-tied, according to hubs.
grrr

fluoridated or non fluoridated toothpaste?

 19 months old this month!
2 months back i brought little Matty to the dentist.
he has early infant caries. sigh

so being the paranoid mum, i quickly text the cousin in australia to buy home some toothpaste for the boys.

check out the Maclean Milk Teeth toothpaste! for 0-3 years old.

in fact, babies should and can use fluoridated toothpaste.

when i told the dentist that i have been purchasing non-fluoridated toothpaste for my babies, she was astounded! she doesnt know there exist such toothpaste!

even if the babies/tot cant spit, they can still use the non-fluoridated toothpaste. the amount will not cause fluorosis.
my bad, i havent been reading on it. i made the decision to purchase non-fluoridated by just listening to other mums' suggestion.

why do i need to get these toothpaste across the ocean?
because i do not like the idea of buying Coca-cola flavoured toothpaste. or any fruity funny flavours for my children.
i prefer toothpaste to be mint.

and i want them to be able to transit easily to adult toothpaste in future.

Matty is ok with Mint.

before the árrival' of these toothpaste from Au, i asked the babysitter to apply very very very ultra thin layer of adult toothpaste for him.
initially it was spicy for him, but after a few times, he got used to it. good boy! :)

check the flavour! Mild Mint Gel!
kind-hearted cousin bought so many tubes! i think it could last them the entire childhood! serious!

KJ is now using adult Colgate- 24 hours. because our favourite paeds dentist recommended it. she claimed that that is the only toothpaste so far which is quoted in papers.
